NTSB Factual Report

The private pilot reported she was practicing stop-and-go landings on a gravel-covered runway in her tailwheel-equipped airplane. The airplane was operated under Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. She said that after touchdown she inadvertently applied the brakes too hard, and the airplane nosed over. The pilot noted that there were no preaccident mechanical problems with the airplane.

NTSB Probable Cause

The pilot's excessive application of the brakes during the landing roll

resulting in a nose over.
