NTSB Factual Report

On July 18, 2017, about 1800 central daylight time, an Air Tractor AT-802A, N816FF, sustained substantial damage during a forced landing near Reyno, Arkansas. The commercial pilot was not injured. The airplane was registered to and operated by C & C Flying Service under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 without a flight plan. Day visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the local aerial-application flight that departed at 1750 from a private airstrip near Reyno, Arkansas.

The pilot reported that he was unable to control engine torque or propeller speed as he maneuvered to land after completing an aerial-application flight. The pilot stated that the engine torque exceeded 6,000 ft·lbf with a propeller speed of about 700 rpm. The right aileron and right elevator were substantially damaged during the forced landing in a soybean field.
