On July 21, 2005, about 0930 eastern daylight time, a Gulfstream American Corp. AA-5A, N26784, was substantially damaged while landing at the Schroon Lake Airport, Schroon Lake, New York. The certificated private pilot was not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and a visual flight rules flight plan had been filed for the flight that departed Bridgeport, Connecticut. The personal flight was conducted under 14 CFR Part 91.

The airplane was on approach to runway 34, a 3,012-foot-long, 60-foot-wide, asphalt runway.

The pilot reported that the airplane did not touch down until mid-field, and he was not able to stop before the airplane departed the end of the runway. The airplane struck a wood pile, and came to rest about 500 feet beyond the departure end of the runway.

The pilot reported 918 hours of total flight experience, all in the same make and model as the accident airplane. He did not report any mechanical malfunctions.
