NTSB Factual Report

On March 27, 2001, at about 1650 central standard time, a Grumman G-164B, N6552K, registered to Londe Air Service Inc; operating as a 14 CFR Part 137 aerial application flight experienced a loss of directional control on landing to a road site in the vicinity of Dyer, Tennessee, and crashed. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed. The airplane sustained substantial damage, and the commercial pilot reported no injuries. The flight originated from Esquire Green Road Dyer, Tennessee, about 10 minutes before the accident.

The pilot stated upon landing to a road, he experienced a loss of directional control. The airplane hit a ditch and nosed down. Examination of the airplane by the pilot after exiting the airplane revealed the right front tire was flat. The tire was removed from the airplane and examined. The examination revealed that the tire had been pinched when installed improperly by company maintenance personnel.

NTSB Probable Cause

The improper installation of the main landing gear tire (pinched tube) by company maintenance personnel resulting in a total loss of air pressure in-flight, loss of directional control on landing roll, and subsequent nose down.
