NTSB Factual Report

On June 9, 2002, at 1940 central daylight time, a Beech B35, N352GF, piloted by a private pilot was substantially damaged when the right wing of the airplane contacted the runway during takeoff from runway 18 (1,740 feet by 65 feet, turf), at the Lakewood Country Club Airport (6M5), Lakewood, Wisconsin. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight was not operating on a flight plan. The pilot and passenger were uninjured. The flight was originating at the time of the accident and was en route to the Burlington Municipal Airport (BUU), Burlington, Wisconsin.

The pilot stated in a written statement, "Released brakes and applied full power. After short distance lifted nose wheel off ground, aircraft became airborne. After short height gain right wing droped. Full left rudder and left aileron would not bring aircraft back. Shortly after I veered right and right wing tip struck ground, then nose wheel and prop and spun me around 360 [degrees] to right."

No anomalies with respect to the airframe, powerplant, or systems were determined to have existed prior to the accident.

NTSB Probable Cause

The pilot's failure to maintain control of the aircraft during takeoff when he encountered a stall after failing to maintain airspeed.
